Dr David Mills
BM BS (Flinders), DRACOG, Dip Anaes, FRACGP
I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia doing my medical training at Flinders University and graduating in 1994.
My wife and I moved to the Northern Territory after I completed my internship, and ended up staying for 5 years, doing three years of hospital training, particularly in Obstetrics and Anaesthesia.
After I finished my post graduate study we moved to PNG where we both worked in an isolated rural setting at a small mission hospital for the next 23 years. During that time I was increasingly involved in the training of young PNG doctors and this continues to be one of my passions, and sees me continue to travel to PNG intermittently as well as working a day a week from home – usually doing zoom tutorials or similar work.
Although I had done some part time work at Naracoorte on and off since 2010, wasn’t until December 2022 that we moved back to Naracoorte on a permanent basis – mostly to be nearer to family, and I joined the partnership in 2024.
My work here is a mixture of consulting, obstetric and anaesthetic practice as well as having an interest in training young Australian GP registars and medical students. But if you don’t find me here from time to time, I’ll probably be back in PNG either back in our hospital or with University work.
Karina and I have 4 children, Natasha, Ashleigh, Chelsea and Nick.
